I have learned quite a bit about action research from this week's assignment. I feel like I will be able to utilize the framework of action research to tackle a number of issues which are facing my school.
In my discussion board posting for this week, I stated that I thought that it would be beneficial to look into upgrading our current dress code situation to that of standardized dress. Now that I have an idea of how action research works, I feel like I will be able to utilize the the framework of action research to begin dissecting this issue. I feel like I will be able to step back and look at the problem, and gather data about how our school currently handles dress code situations. I would like to also gather data about how many discipline reports are filed during a grading period due to dress code infractions. I then would like to gather data from other schools or districts which are currently utilizing standardized dress and see how their number of dress related incidences compares with my school. This will give me the opportunity to see a problem, gather data, and make a change or not based on what the data says.
I also feel like eduacational leaders can really use blogs as an excellent tool for collaboration. These leaders can propose discussion topics amongst other staff memebers to get a feel of how the staff views certain situations. The staff memebers then can comment on the topic right there on the blog, and a virtual discussion can take place in a a safe environment.
