Action Planning Template
Goal: The goal of my action research plan is understand the need of utilizing a virtual school program, such as the Texas Virtual School Network, at my campus.

We will be doing research by analyzing other school districts’ successes with virtual school up until now.

Access to other school districts’ personnel including, but not limited to, communications with counselors, virtual school administrators, and virtual school liaisons.
Each member of the team will be contacting personnel from other school districts who are already utilizing virtual school. We each have a set of questions which we are having the district personnel answer. We will be meeting weekly to compile the information together and analyze our results.
Poll students at my campus to determine a need or desire for online learning.

I will need access to a survey website, such as google forms.
I will analyze the results of the survey by utilizing the analysis tool which google forms provides. I will develop an understanding of how the students at my campus view the opportunity to use online learning so that I may better understand how to best use this program.
Develop an implementation strategy of the virtual school program

We will need the data which has been analyzed in order to develop our implementation strategy.
We will evaluate our strategy next school year to determine if we have achieved the outcome which was desired. If the desired outcome was not achieved, we will make adjustments at that time.

I will make sure that I choose a true random sample of students to ensure equity amongst every student group.

The instrument which will be used to assess our success will be checking for a high percentage of participation amongst the students who we have asked to participate in our poll.

This week's refelction
This week taught me a lot about to utilize action reseacrh in a number of different settings. In particular I liked the passion of individual students and leadership. I also decided on an action research project. I will be researching a virtual school program to implement in my school district.

How to Use Action Research Blogs
I have learned quite a bit about action research from this week's assignment. I feel like I will be able to utilize the framework of action research to tackle a number of issues which are facing my school.
In my discussion board posting for this week, I stated that I thought that it would be beneficial to look into upgrading our current dress code situation to that of standardized dress. Now that I have an idea of how action research works, I feel like I will be able to utilize the the framework of action research to begin dissecting this issue. I feel like I will be able to step back and look at the problem, and gather data about how our school currently handles dress code situations. I would like to also gather data about how many discipline reports are filed during a grading period due to dress code infractions. I then would like to gather data from other schools or districts which are currently utilizing standardized dress and see how their number of dress related incidences compares with my school. This will give me the opportunity to see a problem, gather data, and make a change or not based on what the data says.
I also feel like eduacational leaders can really use blogs as an excellent tool for collaboration. These leaders can propose discussion topics amongst other staff memebers to get a feel of how the staff views certain situations. The staff memebers then can comment on the topic right there on the blog, and a virtual discussion can take place in a a safe environment.
